Daycare description / philosophy

Creative Caterpillars Dayhome is a government approved early learning and childcare program located in the Lakeview community of SW Calgary. We offer play based programing with an emphasis on emergent curriculum and the Reggio approach.Our playroom is located on the main floor of our home, and is separate from our family’s living space. It features large windows, which allow for ample natural light, and a nice view of the squirrel’s and birds that like to frequent our back yard. The space is thoughtfully laid out to allow for freedom of movement and independence. Open-ended toys and materials are carefully selected to promote creative expression, and spark the child’s natural curiosity.We have a large, fully enclosed back yard, which features two very large trees for natural shade, a large concrete slab for ride on toys, as well as lots of green space to run and play.Program planning is emergent, and meets the needs of each individual child.I work with a lower ratio of children than most dayhomes, so that your child receives the individual time and attention that they deserve. There are usually no more than 4-5 children present at any one time. My program is inclusive, and as a provider I am supportive of each families diverse needs. I believe that open communication is an important part of the parent/provider relationship. Parents are free to text throughout the day to check up on their child, and are welcome to participate in our programing as their schedule allows.Meals and snacks are provided, and follow the Canada food guide. Accommodations can be made for children who follow separate diets due to allergies, religion, or families’ personal preference.Provider has Government of Alberta Child Development Worker designation, A Diploma in Montessori Preschool Education, and a Certificate in Early Childhood Education.Provider is registered through a local agency and subsidy is available to qualifying families.I am currently accepting interviews for part time children effective immediately.Due to government regulations all new registrations must be over the age of 3, or turning 3 years old no later than September 1, 2019.
