Daycare description / philosophy

I am currently at capacity for all ages with no sign of anything changing any time soon, but, check back often. My contracts have 30 day notice clauses for termination, so I know a month in advance when a space will come up! Hello Lethbridge parents! My name is Rebecca, and I have an established family day home called FantasticTots, in north Lethbridge. I have the following skills and qualifications to offer, as a provider: -Current first aid, and clean criminal record and family services checks. -12+ years of professional child care experience and 19+ years as a parent. -I am certified with the Province as a Level 1 Early Childhood Educator and I will be furthering my education in the coming years, all the way up to Level 3. -Prior to professional child care, I was a department manager for a large Canadian Company for 5 years. I managed inventory, scheduling, and a staff of 6. -I create my child portfolios via a secure parent communication app that allows me to share instantly with parents. Portfolios include information and observations of your child in the day home, pictures of your child, and pictures of your child's artwork. This rather than creating them on paper where parents only get to see them when they have time. -I am comfortable and knowledgeable with managing the care of special needs children -I am very organized -I am skilled with positive techniques for working with challenging behaviors in children of all ages, ie, tantrums, special needs, behavior disorders -I've learned through experience how to customize my curriculum and routine so that it works for everyone. -I transport to Galbraith Elementary for families requiring care before and after kindergarten age care if it fits with our schedule. -We also sometimes do outings that require driving, like to Henderson Lake, the library, or the legacy regional park in summer. I have my own car seats, all in good repair, and my van has 2 million dollars of full coverage insurance. My van is kept in good repair, with regular inspections with each oil change. About Me -I am fluent in English, and understand quite a bit of French, which I try to pass on to the littles whenever I can -I am a musician. I love to sing with and teach songs to the children. -I prepare visually appealing meals, all balanced and prepared according to Canada's Food Guide, and always with food safety in mind. -I'm an avid home chef and baker, and love to get messy in the kitchen with the children whenever the weather is cool enough to not roast us out of the house In my day home, we have the following: -A smoke-free environment. -We are pet friendly! We have 3 well behaved dogs, 2 gentle cats, a goofy cockatiel, and a fish! The dogs and the cats are all up to date on medical check-ups and immunizations. -My day home boasts a large yard with HUGE shade trees, and lots of room to run and play. We have a fruit and vegetable garden which the children help tend, to learn about nature, nurture, and nutrition. We have outdoor play houses, climbing structures, riding toys, tables and chairs, and great neighbors! We have a big inviting and homey playroom with clearly defined centers, and lots of mental and physical learning opportunities. We have a dedicated quiet room as well. We do everything on the main floor, and there are very few areas in which they cannot go. -We are play-based, meaning I observe children's actions and interests, and design experiences and activities to further their play, and understanding of how the world works. I'm open Monday-Friday, and provide 2 healthy snacks and lunch daily, with most meals being handcrafted here in my kitchen.
