Daycare description / philosophy

Counting Sheep Family Daycare provides a safe, warm, happy, nurturing environment for your child where we set limits for children so that they will have the opportunity to explore their world in a safe and controlled environment. We believe that every child is a unique individual who has their own style, personality, and potential. Each child develops at their own rate and this is recognized. Each milestone is noted and celebrated together! We teach through role modeling appropriate behavior, praising fine behavior and encouraging respect for each other and our surroundings.

We provide a flexible daily program, with developmentally appropriate activities, that will respond to the needs and interests of the children, individually and in group settings helping them to grow:

Physically: to help children increase motor skills
Socially: to help children grow in understanding and cooperation of others
Emotionally: to help children feel good about themselves (positive self-esteem)
Intellectually: to help children develop their thought processes and critical thinking skills to meet their potential

I have provided care for children with emotional, cognitive and developmental disorders. I have experience working with children/adults that are deaf, have seizures, and individuals who require total care. I gained valuable experience maintaining strong relationships and communication with families. Daily activity planning for children included arranging stimulating and educational activities such as creative play, story time, arts and crafts, American Sign Language vocabulary, walks, outings, etc and ensuring the health and safety of the children at all times.

I hold a current Emergency Child Care First Aid certificate, Community Support Worker Certificate, Community Mental Health Program Certificate, WHIMS, Food Safe, and Clear Criminal Record Check.
