A Place to Play, Learn and Grow

Rainbow's Nest Child Care welcomes you and your child to our family. Situated in Mitchell Island, we are located in an 8,000 sq. ft. modern, bright and purpose-built facility designed to meet all the needs of growing, curious and active children. Our key principles are to provide a caring, understanding and stimulating environment.

Our full childcare program caters for Infants (6-12months), Toddlers (1-3 years) and Preschool (3-5 years). Recognizing that families have differing childcare needs, we offer full time, part-time and flexible drop-in childcare services.

We are accepting applications for 2015-2016.

Serving our Community

Rainbow's Nest Child Care is a licensed childcare facility. We serve as a workplace childcare for staff at many businesses on Mitchell Island. We also welcome children whose parents live and work in the communities in the surrounding areas of Vancouver and Richmond. Located on Mitchell Island, we are two minutes away from the Marine Exit on Knight Bridge

The environment we have created is a happy, relaxed one. We believe children learn as they play, and grow in self-confidence in safe and secure surroundings. The activities we offer are exciting and stimulating, to ensure every child is engaged. Safety and security are at the core of our service. We have an open-door policy, where parents are welcome to drop-in while their child is in our care. Our building is key coded and secure at all times. The premises are also monitored by security cameras for additional safety. Only parents and childcare staff are permitted entry during school hours.

Parents as Partners

Parents, carers and families are the most important influences in a child's life. Parents who take on a supportive role in their child's learning make a difference in improving achievement and behavior. Consultation with children and parents is on going - it matters what you say -your views and inputs are a valuable tool to us. Having parents as our partners is designed to maximize the benefits of child care and extend learning between child care and home.

Your Child's Day at Rainbow's Nest Child Care

Each day is carefully balanced between free play and structured play activities. During free play, children can choose what they would like to play with and are guided by trained teachers. Structured play are times when small staff-led groups participate in specific play including painting, clay modeling, counting games etc. We also place a huge emphasis on outdoor play and fresh air. Our 4000 sq. ft. outdoor play area is an oasis of calm, fitted with modern, eco-friendly equipment in a safe, supervised playground with lots of opportunities to run around and explore their environment.

We have a healthy eating policy and we supply a healthy morning and afternoon snacks consisting of lots of fruit, vegetables and essential carbohydrates. Parents are asked to supply main meals. We ensure all children are given the opportunity for physical activity thus ensuring we promote a healthy lifestyle for all.

Learning by Play - Our Ethos

Every child is an individual. Our goal is to provide good quality childcare and education with the emphasis on each child's needs as the focus of their personal learning plan. We offer a varying curriculum with rich opportunities for all age groups, designed to enhance and develop the child's emotional, social, physical and intellectual development.

Our curriculum is based on the child development model that incorporates the theories of Montessori and Reggio. Children are naturally curious beings. They are interested in the world around them. They actively construct their knowledge through exploring, experimenting, investigating. We encourage learning and growth through a well-rounded curriculum that provides the framework for children to grow at their own pace and become confident early learners. We value character development, social responsibility, critical thinking and effective communications.

Rainbow's Nest Child Care is a licensed facility with highly trained and qualified staff at all levels of program design, development and delivery. Our staff continues to undertake various forms of training once qualified, as their professional development is important to us.

How To Find Us

We are situated on Mitchell Island, centrally located on the crossroads between Vancouver and Richmond at 11331 Twigg Place, Richmond, V6V 3C9.

From Vancouver, go South on Knight Street and take the Mitchell Island Exit. At the bottom of the off-ramp, go right onto Mitchell Road until you get to Twigg Place. Turn right and continue on until you get to 11331 Twigg Place. We are located in the second building.

From Richmond, go North on the Knight Street Bridge and take the Mitchell Island Exit. At the bottom of the off-ramp, go right onto Mitchell Road until you get to Twigg Place. Turn right and continue on until you get to 11331 Twigg Place. We are located in the second building.

Holiday Times

We are open all year round, closing on statutory holidays, Easter, Christmas, New Year and on January 6.
