This info is if you're looking to place an infant (12-18mths) in care.
You can expect a waiting list of 2 - 12 mths at the daycare centres.
Dayhomes didn't have waiting lists, they just tell you they don't have space.
It seems that most of them review their capacity in September, beginning of regular school year.
Average cost for daycare centre $1100 - $1250
Average cost for dayhome $800-$1000
We placed our child in a daycare centre as we preferred their structure.
He was with a dayhome for first couple of weeks until we came up on the centre's waiting list. The lady at the dayhome was wonderful.
for Toddler 18mths & up, the daycare centre price seems to go down slightly. I guess due to the ratio of staff required is less in the toddler room than the infant room.
Again, like the infants there's usually a waiting list 2-12mths for toddlers.
If you place your infant in a daycare centre also ask to be added to the toddler room waiting list as I am told they're separate waiting lists.
Good luck!
