Title: Curious children and poisons are a dangerous mix
Post by: CareDC on August 09, 2008, 11:16:22 PM
Every year, in Canada, an estimated seven children, age 14 and under, die from poisoning. Another 1,700 are hospitalized for serious injuries. Nearly 64 per cent of poisoning deaths and hospitalizations occur in children aged one to four.

Terri and Shane Hicks keep all of their cleaning products and medicines where their children can't reach them.

But after this mother of four cleaned the bathroom recently, she forgot to put it back where it belongs. While she was in the middle of preparing their evening meal a living nightmare began.

Their four-year-old son, Jared Hicks, picked up the forgotten bottle of toilet bowl cleaner.
