I noticed the schools are doing registration for JK and K this week around here...anyone have any questions about the transition to kindergarten/school?

What is required for registration?

Proof of taxes being directed in the right direction (public or catholic) ; proof of address, birth certificate..and in catholic school they need their proof of baptism.  proof of immunization or letter of exemption from health unit...custody info if needed along with the application.

For Junior Kindergarten, children must be four years old in 2008. For Senior Kindergarten, children must be five years. If your child is currently in JK, you do not need to register again for SK.

Is JK optional?  Do children really need to go to kindergarten (JK or SK)

Actually children are not required by the ministry to attend school until grade one.

Thank-you for the information Spud.  I'm sure many parents are not aware of this.
