Fees for Daycare

How much do you charge for daycare and what does the fee include? What do you provide, what do you want parents to supply?
What is the going rate for daycare in your area?

I have typically seen $38-40 for infants, $35-38 for tods, $35 preschool, $34 schoolage...$25 half day...$14 for just afterschool - or just before school and  $15-20 preschool ie 9-1130 or 230-530 or $20 for both before and after school.  $5 transportation/family or early arrival or late arrival charge.  These fees include receipts, healthy food..or they can substitute the transportation fee for bringing their own food and there is no fee to transport kids to and from school/other outings.

Is this the going rate in your area?
Do you think that is too much to pay someone to care for your loved one?

It really depends on the individual daycare, but i've seen these fees, but i've also seen higher:

Infants -1395
Toddlers-995
Preschool-910
Kindergarten-800
Schoolage-350

i've also seen a daycare that charges a set fee regardless of the age group ($54 per day)

To answer your question of whether it's too much to pay for someone you care, really is a difficult one to answer especially if as a parent you have no choice but to go to work.  I'm sure that many parents would love to be home with their little ones, but in today's society and all our bills, it is not manageable for most.

As for the government sunsidizing the costs, it would be a nice idea, but then again it is coming out of the tax payers pocket, so we end up paying the costs one way or another!

Oh parents are required to provide diapers, wipes, special dietary/preference foods.

Examples of Monthly Parent Fee in Ontario city based on Line 236 of your taxes..the county will subsidize the rest

My fees went up & everyone was decent...
I introduced a NEW! FEE FREEZE which last form June 2008 to June 2010.

New fees are as follows:

$32.00/day F/t single parent home/children
$34.00/day  ALL Part-time children -sgl. & duel parent families
$38.00/day  3-4 P/t - full days week.
$40.00   CASUAL  1-2 full days -sgl. & duel parent families.

HALF-DAY FEE - *Remains FIXED @ - $25.00 day for Kindergarten and Preschool children etc.,
half-day attendances.

I offered each family my valid & supportive reasons for the fee increase and provided a written thirty (30) days 'Notice of Daycare fee increase'.

NO one complained and believe this is fair; as it breaks down to $3.20 to $3.80 hr. F/t or P/t
or $4.00/hr. CASUAL - Based on 10 hr. days, as most children attend nearly 10 hrs. 
Policy set fees do not go down, if only 8.5 or 9 hrs are attended.

Everyone in their appropriate category submits the same fee rate!

Good for you, its important to increase fees with the way expenses are sky rocketing ie food GAS, and other inflation. I actually increased half day to 30 now for preschool and under..25 for schoolage but if they bring own food..30 if i feed em

I charge $30 per day in a dayhome, that includes lunch and snack but not baby formula , diapers or wipes. I am in Nova Scotia.

Seems like alot of home daycares are charging around $30 - regardless where they are located.

Because Quebec created the $7/day gov't funded daycares, my daily rate of $25 is considered high by some! I stick to it though because it means that the parents who come are ready to pay for the care their children are getting and I have less payment problems this way.
