Woman charged with putting needles in meat packages is former employee: Maple Leaf
Maple Leaf Foods says a woman charged with allegedly inserting 13 sewing needles into packages of meat products was a former company employee.
Last week, police began investigating reports that several products at a Guelph supermarket had been tampered with and had sewing needles inside. In all, 12 packaged products containing 13 needles were found.
On Thursday, Guelph police arrested Mastoora Qezil, 41, and charged her with common nuisance.
In a statement released today, Maple Leaf says the woman worked at the company's Guelph plant for seven years and was terminated earlier this month.
