Alberta set to certify child care
« on: April 21, 2009, 11:47:45 AM »
The government of Alberta is spending $12.6 million on expanding its child care accreditation program.

Janis Tarchuk, minister of Children and Youth Services, said the program lets parents know their children will be cared for by skilled professionals in a “constructive and caring environment.”

“Extending accreditation to the out-of-school care community is an important part of our commitment to quality child care and to Alberta’s children and families,” Tarchuk said.

The program is voluntary for licensed day cares and approved family day home agencies. The program works with the out-of-school sector with children aged six to 12.
