Just wondered if we could start a new topic that could run regularly to see what everyone is doing with their groups. Maybe get new ideas, pass along a read-made plan for the day that someone else could use, etc. It is fun to know what themes people are following too.
I will start with our daily program for this week (I have three preschool classes so M/T is the same, then W/Th and Fridays.)
Art: heart collage (tissue/metalic paper/printed paper - cut into hearts and collaged onto white cardstock)
Craft: Pink Valentine - pink construction paper heart, doily, crepe paper hearts, glitter glues, stickers.
Sensory: rice with red and pink plastic 'jewels' (Dollar store items that go into aquariums or vases) and mini red heart shaped 'jewels' (they love these! They only come out for Valentines.)
: grape (purple) scented playdough with heart shaped cookie cutters
Circle: Calendar (circle starter song / Special Helper / number of the day tracing / day of the week song / month song / any special news
Story: Valentine Cats
Songs: I Love You / Skinnamarink / I'm gonna wrap myself in paper
Other: sign language: red/pink/Valentines/I love you - use in story and song
Phonics: Fun Family Phonics story for letter 'n' reviewed; show and tell for 'n'. (my daughter brought everyone a candy necklace for 'n'.
Fine Motor: making necklaces; heart rubbings (sand paper heart cutouts glued onto a large piece of heavy cardboard and they place paper over top, use pink/red/purple crayons to colour and see the magic heart shape appear)
Listening Centre: Won't you be my Kissaroo?
Gross Motor: Brain Gym - Do the Dragon
Dramatic Play: pretty princess costumes
Blocks and Buildings: new Geo Trax train set
Writing/Cutting area: cutting hearts (paper folded in half, half a heart is copied on so they just follow the line to cut it out: colour a Valentine colour
Other: finishing printing assessments
Snack menu: Monday: cranberry/lemon loaf and milk
Tuesday: hummus, wheat crackers, fruit plate and water
Art / Craft / Phonics change three times a week and the rest are weekly activities.
Tues: Added taking care of babies to dramatic play today. ('Caring' theme with Valentines)
Valentines Party is Wednesday/Thursday
Art: heart cookie cutter prints (red/purple/pink) on white cardstock.
Crafts: Valentines head band (cardstock strip with various heart sizes) - talk about small/medium/large hearts (extention from snowballs from last month - small/medium/large math activity, heart hunt)
: Valentine mouse (heart shaped piece, googly eye, yarn and lollipop)
: Valentine fun foam picture frame
Circle (as above plus) : Valentine Mice story
: heart hunt (small/medium/large felt hearts cut out and hit then the chidlren find and sort, count each size/colour)
: sort Valentines into holders; give out goodie bags, take home today
Other: Snack today is Valentine treats that everyone brings (cookies, cupcakes, fruit plate, jello jiglers, chips)
: Continue to do '100 books read this week' chart with children; collect their bookmarks and check off their 5 books read; hand out free books to those participating.

Friday - Friendship Day
Art: Circle of Friends handprints
Craft: Friendship bug (Fun Foam craft)
