Daycare description / philosophy

The YWCA Halifax is a not-for-profit multi-service organization dedicated to improving the lives of women, young women, and their families. Our mission is to build our community by engaging and supporting women of all ages to participate fully in life, both as individuals and as valued members of their communities. To advance its mission, the YWCA delivers programs that enable children and families to thrive, and serve women at critical turning points in their lives.

YWCA Halifax has a long history of providing quality care and early learning experiences for young children. In cooperation with the Junior League of Halifax we operated one of the first licensed care facilities in the province. YWCA Canada is the second largest provider of early childhood learning and care in the country. We currently serve 76 children from ages 6 months to 12 years.

YWCA Halifax Child Care is coordinated by the Child Care Manager, and managed by the Director of Child, Youth & Family Programs who reports to the Executive Director YWCA Halifax. The YWCA Halifax is governed by a community-based and diverse Board of Directors.
