A bit about our unique home daycare: Philosophy: First Friends is learning, exploring, playing, pretending, and making those first friendships with other children. Here at First Friends we strongly believe that it is through play that children learn best. It is our role to provide quality, interesting, and stimulating materials and equipment to facilitate this play and meet a wide range of learning and development levels. The children and their families are our first priority. First Friends provides a strictly anti-bias environment. The centre is open to any child and family regardless of their abilities, culture, race and family structure. We want to do our best to represent and educate children on the different lifestyles and etnicities of our families. We are always looking for input from families as to our progress and the desires of their children when they attend First Friends. Any input is constructive and helpful. Curriculum/Activities: Balance is something that First Friends holds dear to our hearts, which is why we always balance learning and play. From numbers and letters to shapes and colours, First Friends ensures that all children learn at their own pace and excel. Arts and crafts are plentiful cupboards upon cupboards of supplies. Some are for specific occassions such as Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day etc. Educational materials for fine and gross motor skills are also available from manufactures like leap frog, v-tech, melissa and doug.
