The atmosphere is calm, and invites learning through play. The program is run by a Registered Early Childhood Educator with over 20 years of experience. EELCC believes that children are entitled to the best opportunities that supports the emotional, social, creative, cognitive, physical, creative and intellectual growth of the children. Building self-identity, self esteem, independence, a sense of community responsibility and mutual respect. We provide an environment that fosters active learning, autonomy, democratic freedom, multiculturalism, a sense of safety, caring, belonging, comfort, and responsibility. At EELCC we believe that children are competent, active learners, and learn through play. The world around us is the best teaching tool. Children are individual learners with RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educators) as guides, and children take the lead in their learning. The focus on individual learning allows children to work at their own pace, and to take ownership of their learning. We encourage children to take care of their own rights and responsibilities, such as having a say in what your interests are, using your words to express yourself, and tidying up toys after using them. As well as having a range of ages learning together in one classroom, where children are encouraged to help each other learn. This all creates a setting for personal growth, responsibility, and independence. Continuity is key in dependable child care. Therefore EELCC has a reliable RECE, and small student-teacher ratio 5:1. Our RECE has many years of experience and is one of the best in the profession. We keep parents well informed on their child's daily learning with the use of the child care phone app, such as Brightwheel. This gives us the opportunity to send a daily report about the child's day. Information on meals, toileting, sleep, activities, and moods can be found in the daily report. These are accompanied by one or more pictures, and at times short videos. Through this app the child's portfolio of learning is created, and is collected throughout the school year. EELCC respects and complies with the rules and regulations for child care, as set out by the government of Canada and the province of Ontario.
