Daycare description / philosophy

I have 2 spaces available Mon to Thurs children ages 12 months and older starting in October 2020

I have my B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Child Studies. I then went on to complete my E.C.E. I have my First Aid with Infant Child CPR and police check. I am the mother of 2 children both of whom are in University. I started my home daycare in 2001 when my youngest was an infant and have been operating it ever since. Before that I worked for 6 years in licensed daycare centers

I believe children learn through play and discovery. We have a daily schedule that we follow however we are flexible to the flow of the day too. I have a variety of age appropriate toys for the children to play with, that I clean and switch regularly. We have circle time were we learn about calendar, seasons, our letters, numbers, shapes and colours plus other cognitive activites. We work on different age appropiate independence skills that ready young children for school like learning to dress oneself and clear their dishes. We head outside in the mornings for an hour or so to get some exercise and fresh air. During the rainy or cold weather we get out less often but we crawl through the tunnel and dance around to music instead. We have many great parks in the area t
choose from for our playtime. We watch a minium amount of TV and everyone has a quiet time in the afternoon. I provide healthy snacks and meals that appeal to the picky eaters. I do have 2 cats in the house.

Children in my care become a large family. They look forward to seeing each other and playing everyday.
