Daycare description / philosophy

Popular and successful kindergarten moving from South Guelph to the modern North. (nearby St. Patrick School)

Little Star Private Kindergarten is located at Woodlawn and Victoria intersection, very close to Waldorf School and I also offer transportation to and from the school with before- and after-school care.

I am an educated kindergarten teacher, cultural program organiser and swimming instructor. I have volunteer experience with SK, JK in Newmarket Pickering College and with grade 1, grade 2 and grade 3 children at Montessori School in Newmarket. I have also worked as a kindergarten teacher in public and in catholic schools.
I have CPR and First-Aid certificate for infant and child; criminal reference checks on all residents done.

The kindergarten provides a safe and happy place where children can learn and grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially at their own pace. My house has lots of space for children and it is smoke free and pet free. I offer varieties of age appropriate enjoyable indoor and outdoor activities that will help your child's development. I give the children in my care opportunities to learn in a family-like setting with mixed age groups, where they can feel safe and loved, and can begin to build a positive self image. Your child will have the opportunity to gain practice in language, fine motor, large motor, and self-help skills.

I take alternate vacations and have back-up arranged for sick time so there is little chance that you will be inconvenienced by having to arrange for back-up care at the last minute.

I have been providing care for children for almost 8 years. Our days consist of free-play, circle time including calendar, songs and learning games, puzzles, dancing, maths and logic exercises, nature science and as much outdoor play as possible. There are nice parks and walking trails close to our house. Occasional trip can be organised to West End Community Centre as well as to the library and to a weekly playgroup offered by the Ontario Early Years Centre. My kindergarten offers healthy, homemade and nutritious snacks and lunches on a 4-week rotating schedule, so you always know what your children are eating.
