Daycare description / philosophy

I am currenty offering childcare for children 0-5 years old. I have 2 children of my own (1 and 3 years old) and have been a childcare provider since 2008. I enjoy my job and love filling our days with activities and laughter.

I provide 2 snacks and lunch each day, as well as breakfast for an additional fee. I serve all organic produce and organic free-range meat and eggs. I try to use organic foods whenever possible. Almost all of our food is homemade fresh in the oven or stove top. We do not use a microwave and we limit exposure to chemicals by using natural non-toxic cleaners. The children enjoy their outdoor time rain or shine. We love splashing in puddles, going on nature walks, and singing songs while watching the ducks by the pond. Nature is a large part of our program, and the children will build a loving appreciation for it.

We have many fun activities each day. Each week we enjoy: attending playgroup, going on a nature walk, music lessons, art projects, and sensory play. We have a daily bilingual circle time, arts and crafts, sing-along with the guitar, and preschool learning time (mostly Waldorf style). We love to make forts, read books, do science experiments, and play pretend. We do not watch any tv or play video/computer games.

My house has two playrooms: one on the mainfloor, and one in the basement. We have a fenced in backyard with toys and a playstructure, and many parks in the neighbourhood. We go on walks with our choochoo wagon for 5 and love to go to the nearby library. I try to let the children lead the days as much as possible and follow their rhythm to include learning activities.

We have a happy nap time or quiet time each afternoon. Children are not left to cry, and will usually fall asleep with a smile on their faces.

I have first aid, cpr, clean police records check for myself and my husband, and excellent references from past and current families.

I am currently looking for one family with 1 or 2 children to join our group. One of my current children will be moving in October or November and the space could be available between then and January. I would love a 3 year old for my daughter to play with, but I will consider any age of child.
