Daycare description / philosophy

Spots for Tots Home Daycare located in the Stoney Creek sub-division ( Adelaide and Sunningdale area) has one August / September spot available in a "school year calender" daycare . This daycare is ideal for Teachers, EA's, Supply Teachers, School Administration or any one that works around the school year calendar and has a two week Christmas Break, March Break and two months of Summer holidays. Hi, My name's Trish and I'm a mother of two sweet little girls, age 2.5 and 7 years. I've been in the childcare field now for just over 15 years. I was a Daycare Centre Teacher for 7 years, Child Support worker with Von for 2 years, A Nanny for 1 year, and ran a successful Home Daycare for 5 years. I'm a Registered Early Childhood Educator that graduated from Conestoga College with honours. I use all of this experience, to create the ideal environment for children to thrive. My home daycare is located in North London in the new Stoney Creek sub-division. I've devoted the entire first floor of my home to the daycare and have a large collection of toys, books and activities for children from newborn to school age. I have a fully fenced backyard with many toys and equipment to keep little ones active and engaged in play. I have CPR and first aid training, R.ECE certified and a criminal reference check is available upon request. My home is smoke free and pet friendly with a shit-tzu pup who loves kids and a guinea pig dou that live in my child's bedroom. Using my ECE teaching background I do weekly themes, daily circles, sensory activities, cognitive games, literacy building, opportunities to practise gross and fine motor skills, daily crafts, cooking experiences etc.... Adequate rest is vital to a child's well being. Everyday we have a nap/rest period. Naps are encouraged with individual cots,crib or a play pen, in a separate sleeproom, with a calming white noise machine and a darkened room. Once children have outgrown their naps a rest period is still expected. This is at least 45 minutes of quiet reflective time on their beds. After they are welcomed to join me quietly in the playroom to look at books, do puzzles, crafting, playdough play or watch a children's cartoon until their sleeping peers awake. In addition to sleep diet is very important, this is why I have a nutritional rotating menu that has been reviewed by a Dietitian. Morning snack, hot lunch, afternoon snack and homogenized milk are included in my daycare fees. I can provide many character and work references from past daycare families and daycare co-workers that would be happy to chat with you.
