Daycare description / philosophy

Www.facebook.com/happyhearts.homedaycare.7 I wish to introduce my licensed home based daycare/preschool Located at Winston Churchill and Burnhamthorpe Dear Parents, I am a Registered early childhood educator RECE having graduated from Loyalist college, Ontario on the Honor list. As ECEs, we specialize and learn about the care, development and education of children upto 6 years of age and are qualified to work in the Kindergarten classroom. I've experience in both the Peel District School board kindergarten classroom (placement)and the YMCA childcare (Preschool educator). I’ve taken these experiences into my home daycare, that I’ve been running since 2011. I enjoy working with children and enjoy seeing their development unfold every single day. I’m always in awe at how brilliantly their minds and creativity work. Their resiliency and problem-solving skills are an inspiration to me, 'never give up!', You can do it’ is one of their mottos that I am inspired by :) I participate in the Continuous Professional Learning Program of the College of ECEs, hence I regularly update myself to keep learning and make use of new research in child development and keep upto date regarding Ministry regulations. At Happy Hearts Playschool I offer; * home-based childcare focusing on children from 2 to 4 years, on the main floor of my detached home, situated on a quiet and safe Crescent neighborhood, ample parking space on my driveway for easy pick up and drop off * I update my Emergency contact list regularly and keep copies handy and accessible. We practise emergency protocol including fire drills and emergency care such as anaphylactic reaction procedures. * Developmentally-appropriate activities that enhance the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and the complete holistic development of children * Huge, fenced backyard, being the crowning feature of my property where we spend two outdoor times for gross motor activities with plenty of age-appropriate play equipment * home-cooked meals and nutritious snacks in accordance with Canadian food guidelines- no processed foods Happy hearts menu plan is available for review during the interview * School readiness program including reading and writing practice, introduction to math problem-solving skills, social skills, and independence skills Happy hearts schedule and curriculum is available for review during the interview Daycare activities include; creative play/art with lots of gluing, painting, science activities, dramatic play (preschoolers have access to kid-safe scissors under supervision) using non-toxic paints and glue sensory activities including slime, playdough, kinetic/moon sand, natural materials, cooking Mondays where children participate in simple meal prep and even baking activities (for babies I provide textures, feel and touch activities and baby safe sensory bins) outdoor activities including relay run, obstacle course, water play, snowman building, sledding and wagon rides in the backyard, sliding, baby swing, ride-on toys, nature hunts in the backyard, apple picking in the backyard, kite flying, bubble blowing, sidewalk chalk, picnics and so much more story/ circle time with songs for most actions such as the 'Good morning song', what's the weather? 'this is the way we..." and other favorites using interactive Montessori based material. A variety of age-appropriate books, I read to them and also encourage a book look time (kids learn to 'read' through pictures first, even turning the page is a skill they'll master) We rotate books both from our daycare and by borrowing from the library New themes are based on interest of the child, books and activities are selected based on the child's interests, age, engagement, and developmental milestones Introducing phonics and numbers, action songs, writing, reading, math skills Montessori based activities both with DIY and standard Montessori equipment in my well-stocked supply cupboard Clean up and other independence skill practise Homework help as required- even my own high schoolers can tutor, based on their availability *First Aid and CPR trained, health check, Peel Region police services RCMP criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening * Health and safety training certificate as well as my Career development certificates are available *Training through my college, licensed childcare centers, Peel District school board kindergarten and Ontario Family Daycare training program. *Experience in the public school kindergarten, YMCA, Little Learners Playschool and as a mother of three wonderful and independent children. *We are smoke and pet free, also screen.free All original past and present parent references, professional and supervisor references available in my professional portfolio
