Daycare description / philosophy
To nurture each child's potential, I feel it is important to expose them to a variety of activities:
- weekly visits to the library
- story and music time
- arts and crafts
- frequent trips to the park (weather permitting)
- puzzles, blocks and other activities encouraging the development of fine motor skills
- healthy snacks and home-made lunches
I would have a maximum of 4 children to ensure that each child is getting the individual attention they need and also the social experience of being with other children.
I have 13 years of experience in caring for children from the age of 2 months to 10 years. For the past 5 years I have been a live in nanny caring for 3 children aged 5, 8 and 10. My responsibilities included making the children meals, taking them on outings to parks, libraries etc, setting up play dates and caring for the children in their own home.
I cared for the youngest from the time he was 8 months old and was there for some major milestones; first steps, first words and potty training.
I feel communication is very important between the caregiver and parents as these are times in the children's lives when they are discovering new things all the time.
I have my Child and Youth worker diploma from St Lawrence College and my Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Westchester Community College in Westchester NY and am certified in both CPR and First Aid.
