WHY CATERPILLARS CLUBHOUSE (CC)?
HI! My name is CHRISTINE and thank you for taking the time to visit my registered home daycare business, Caterpillars Clubhouse (CC) - operating since January 2008 and located in Orleans, Ontario.


Over the years, I have had the privilege, joy and passion of teaching and caring for more than a dozen pre-school children and toddlers since I started CC. As a mother of two energetic and lively children (ages 4 and 6), I am well-versed in practical matters relating to children and my experience has afforded me an in-depth understanding of the various needs and demands children require. After my second child, I decided to start my own private affordable home daycare for the simple reason: I wanted to provide parents' children with personalized attention, nutritious and quality foods, and a discovering and nurturing developmental program offered in the context of a safe and secure home environment.


WHAT DOES MY +15 YEARS EXPERIENCE LOOK LIKE?
Prior to graduating with a diploma in Early Childhood Education AND Fitness and Nutrition, I worked as the Site Manager and Program Director for Kids Can Doodle (Toronto before & after school), a daycare worker at Prima Donna Fitness and as Staff of Animations and Evening Childcare Worker at Hotel Sierra Manzanillo (Mexico). When I moved to Ottawa, I worked as personal nanny to two families in Manotick (children aged 7 months, 3 & 5 years old) for over two years.

I currently have my CPR/First Aid Certificate, as well as a Criminal Reference for myself and my husband. I am always learning about new and exciting ways to help nurture children.

WHAT IS MY PROGRAMMING LIKE?
Over the years I have refined my program to include a very nurturing, playful and social aspect to my programming. I believe play time and social interactions for children are fundamental to their growth, especially when combined. I have seen on more than one occasion children step out of their shell to embrace play and social contact. They learn, among other characteristics, respect, empathy, sharing, caring, imaginative play, teamwork and friendship while developing their muscles, language and dialogue skills, manners and sense of community. The benefits are numerous.

My program is aimed at children 11 months to 4 years old and my flexible routine includes the following:
- Healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks (organic where possible);
- Milk and beverages;
- Inside and outside play time;
- Arts and crafts;
- Dance, music and movement;
- Storytelling and dress-up;
- Themes and celebrations;

Although I am "unlicensed" by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, I do follow the Day Nurseries Act (ie. Licensed Agency) closely - including caring for the minimum required children as stipulated by law.(I will only take three daycare children).


WHAT ABOUT THE HOME DAYCARE?
Located in a safe neighbourhood in Orleans (Innes/Viseneau), my clean, smoke-free, air-conditioned and air-exchanged home offers a large dedicated space for play, as well as a child-proof environment. The house is up to code and includes working fire alarms and I even have business insurance! Traffic is very limited and there are other children who play in the area. There are numerous parks, splash pads and I am close to the Gloucester library. I also have my own safe and reliable mini-van to get to and from these locations (I am happy to provide safety standard child seats).
