Daycare description / philosophy

Hi my name is Lorri Davenport and I am a mother of two university students; Ryley (21) and Shyla (19). I would love to open my home up to become a second home for your child/children from one year old to school aged. I have been a home daycare provider for 25 years, however I have been in the child care business since I was 12 and started to babysit in my neighbourhood. We have a medium dog named Bailey. I have a BA in Child Studies and Psychology as well as courses in special needs and behaviour management. I also have my CPR and First Aid. I love the versatility that home daycare provides and have had several families for many years, getting a chance to watch the children grow up and blossom into young adults and even in some cases have their own children. I provide two snacks and lunch with many healthy options. My program revolves around many outtings (library, early years programs, mcdonalds playland, swimming, parks and other neighbourhood fun places), a theme based calendar based on the age group I am currently providing for and lots of outdoor time. Activities can vary from cooking, baking, circle time, stories, math, games, music, dramatic, free play time and general cuddle time. At Homestead Court Daycare, I work towards creating independance in your child by encouraging self-help skills, and learning through both work and play. Your child's day would include structured as well as non-structured activities and lots of love. I am located on a quiet court minutes from Stephen Saywell School and on bus route to St. Christopher and Walter E. Harris Schools. I have a large fenced backyard with lots of room to play.
