Daycare description / philosophy

Hi my name is Carey, and I am the provider of Wee Wonders Home Daycare, which is a small group setting with a routine scheduale that is fun, friendly, supporting, and a flexiable environment to meet each child's needs.

I have twenty years experience in the daycare field with children of all ages. Although I do not have my Early Childhood Education, I do have a lot of experience and have some ECE courses that I have taken through Durham College such as ECE Introduction, Child Development, Child Curriculum, and Intro to Sociology. I also have my Emergent Curriculum Certificate, for those of you who are not aware of what emergent curriculum is, I will give you a brief explanation. Emergent Curriculum is a way of planning curriculum based on a child's interest and passions. It requires observations, documentation, creative brainstorming, flexibility, and patience. I will however have themes based on holidays and seasons only. I also hold a certificate with the Appelbaum Training Insitute in Flowers, Fun, and Friendship in Child Care for guidance, and behaviour management, professional development, curriculum, and child development. I hold a certificate of regonition in English, and a certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder. I also have my certificate in Palliative Care which i recieved through Durham College, as well as The Fundamentals of Hospice and Palliative Care which I recieved through the Ministry of health. I hold a current first aid & CPR certificate.

I am a mother of two wonderful boys, and hold good Christian values. I live in a smoke free home, fenced in backyard. Activitis include circle time, arts & crafts, free play, science, discovery and scensory,. I offer nutrious morning snacks, lunches, and afternoon snacks. I live in the Vincent Massey School area of oshawa and offer before & after school care as well as fulltime for children ages 2.5 years to 5 years old. I will put children safetly on the bus and pick them up which stops right at the side of my house. I have four spaces available, can provide a criminal reference and personal reference uopn request.
