Daycare description / philosophy

I have facilities to accommodate children of all ages, and currently have two home daycare spaces available (only one for children younger than two years) beginning in May.

I have been working with children for over a decade in various settings. I have 12 years’ experience with the Scouts Canada organization, including 4 years in a leader position. I have provided private child care during three summers (2003-2005), as well as occasional babysitting services for multiple families. I have completed placements in both a kindergarten classroom and a Grade 10 classroom. I was tasked with coordinating and running a March Break day camp, which I created the entire week’s program, and have worked as a camp counsellor for 7 week-long youth camps. I have been spending the last 8 years at home with my own four children, the youngest of which will be 6 months old before May.

I am located on Sunset Blvd, and can offer school pick up and drop off to my local elementary school: Queen Elizabeth Public School. I do not offer structured activities, but I have highly restricted screen time, and I offer a healthy lunch and two healthy snacks for children in my care during those hours. I am a bit stricter than most parents I know, and expect a certain level of respect from all children in my care. For example, my own children do not call adults solely by their first names, (they preempt the name with Mister or Miss) and I expect regular use of manners and no attitude.

We have recently moved into the area, and are still trying to settle into the house. As such, there is a certain amount of disarray that we hope to resolve quickly.
