Daycare description / philosophy

Thank you for your interest in my daycare. Whether you are changing daycares or starting daycare for the first time, I understand how significant this time is for both the parents and children involved. Finding a daycare that meets your child(ren)'s needs and at the same time finding a provider that you feel you can entrust with your child(ren) can be very stressful. But let me reassure you that you have found a great choice in Bonjour My Friends! I feel it is very important for the parents and the provider to have a very open and friendly relationship to best meet the needs of the children, so please feel free to talk to me about any questions or concerns that you may have.

To tell you a little bit about my family and myself. I'm married to Matthew Malott. Matthew works long hours in our business. We are the proud owners of Mattéo's Restaurant and Pizzeria (located at the corners of Ontario, Russell and Devine). We have five children (yes, I know that's a lot this day and age ) Our three girls Amanda (12), Angelina (7), and Amariah (5) are in school full-time. That leaves me at home with just our little baby boy Timothy. Sadly, we lost a daughter, Alissa, coming up five years ago. She is still very much a part of us as we carry her in our hearts.

I have formal training in Early Childhood Education as well as for individuals with special needs and am current with my certification in Child's First Aid and CPR. My criminal background check is also up to date. I love to use my French Immersion educational background to incorporate French learning into my daycare.

I've have worked with children my whole life from the time I was young babysitting. I have also worked as a day-camp counsellor, as a support worker for a young man with special needs, as a nanny and as an educator in professional daycares. I provided daycare in my home for over six years previously before taking time away to help my husband to open and establish our family pizzerias and am very excited to be getting back into it again here in Sarnia.

I am proudly a volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada and am currently a leader with my daughter's Brownie unit. I have also volunteered as a leader with La Leche League of Canada as well as with children's programs in church and my children's schools.

I chose to do daycare because of my love for children and that will be very evident to you very quickly. My daycare is a family daycare. The children who come into our home as daycare friends become as one of our big happy family 

I am very proud of my own children. My girls think it's wonderful to have kids come into our home and are very sharing and kind. They have really excelled in their Francophone education and love to teach other kids new words in French. My oldest daughter Amanda is incredible. She very helpful with the children and is an excellent role model for younger kids.

I offer a great program of fun and learning. Children learn through play and I strive to offer a good variety of toys and activities to encourage learning in all the different areas of development. Your child(ren) will really enjoy all the crafts and circle times with stories, songs and games as well as outdoor play in our great backyard. I love to cook and provide great kid-friendly meals.

Unlike most other daycares, my daycare has no specified hours of operation. I'm always willing to work with the needs of my parents' schedules and am also happy to offer evening, overnight and weekend care for parents who are looking for a mature provider for these times (ie: date nights). You will find me very flexible with my hours.

I think that you would find that I am very fair in my pricing for my daycare. I charge a daily rate agreed upon by myself and the parent that is based on how many hours I am needed at rate of $4/per hour. I charge hourly for occasional care. I also provide a family discount. Although I know it is possible to find a less expensive daycare than mine, I also know that it would be hard for you to find a higher quality daycare than mine.

I've had many happy families go through my daycare. I take pride in how satisfied I've been able to keep the families that have chosen me as their child(ren)'s childcare provider. I've had families who have stayed for numerous years until their children enter school. Thank you for considering my home for your child's enjoyment and development!
