Daycare description / philosophy

My name is Heidi and I am a mother of three grown daughters. I have over 20 years of experience caring for children, from infancy to school age within a Home Child Care setting. I have a teacher’s degree and studied Early Childhood Education. I am Certified in Standard CPR and First Aid. I attend workshops to enhance my professional skills and gain more experience and knowledge. I am fluent I English, Mandarin and Cantonese. My home daycare is located at Bayview north of John Street. I am close to Highway 407.The environment within my home is safe, comfortable, and always clean. We back onto a park within steps distance. This is great for the children to explore the outdoors, get exercise and enjoy the fresh air. The children also have fun in the backyard perfect for children to develop gross motor skills (we spend two hours outside playing time daily). I love developing curriculum and working with children to support their development and learning. Years of managing a home daycare has instilled in me the ability and experience of looking after the needs of children, including preparing meals and handling hygiene. I have experience caring for children ages ranging from infant to school age. Types of programming includes carefully planned child directed/play based daily learning activities to ensure children are well prepared academically and socially for kindergarten with language, mat art, crafts, songs, and games. I make sure to provide a supportive and loving small group setting to initiate children with social skills. I support the children’s life skills such as tidying up, eating and dressing independently, and toilet training. I believe it is important for children to develop social skills from a young age. I also believe it is important to give every child individual attention as well to give them the opportunity to be with other children. We as a family love to eat delicious healthy meals. I do the same for my daycare children. They enjoy tasty snacks and lunches that follow Canada’s Food. I know your child will be happy and flourish in my daycare. I will ensure they have a good day, every day. I will help prepare them for junior kindergarten, with confidence and eagerness to learn. I am looking forward to meeting you and your child.
