Daycare description / philosophy

I am a Child and Youth Worker and a mom. I have worked with kids in many settings (home care, school settings, residential). Since my own daughter came along, I have been building a home daycare business. I do this so that I can keep my daughter with me, but also provide the social stimulation and structured programming (outings, activities, crafts) that are the good parts of a daycare. I think its the best of both worlds! My home daycare is a caring environment, where the whole space is designated for children. I make meals from scratch and plan activities based on the children's interests. I love to sing and do a song-circle each day. Books and toys are age-appropriate level, with lots of variety. I go to parks, the library and drop-in centres. Field trips are also a possibility! My main interest in caring for children is to meet them at their level. I am interested in Attachment Parenting and the Project Approach to children's education. I try to use elements from these philosophies in my work. I'm also trained to manage difficult behaviours and recognize when a child is struggling intellectually, socially or emotionally.
