Daycare description / philosophy

First Steps Academy is a private Christian daycare.

New construction - modern and spacious - Summer 2012 opening

Our program is aligned with the MFA. We provide a loving, nurturing and joyful faith-based environment in which children are encouraged to grow intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally abd spiritually. We realize that the needs of young children are very specific and unique. Teachers are therefore encouraged to personalize the curriculum to meet the needs of the children they are serving. The curriculum is theme based and early learning skills for language development are incorporated into the various themes throughout the year. A variety of learning and play activities provide a balanced program.

Some Christian themes and principles used in the curriculum are:
- Creation story (We were created by God)
- Golden rule (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you)
- Honesty
- Obedience (to parents, authority)
- Helping the poor
- Christmas story (Jesus is the son of God)
- Easter story (Jesus died for our sins)
- Care for the environment

Biblical stories will be used to teach these principles.
