Daycare description / philosophy

Garderie Les Jardins de Midas is a bilingual, private subsidized daycare, which opened in 1994. We open our doors to discovery. Respect, autonomy, creativity, helping others and self-esteem are our values which are achieved daily through play, communication, respect, collaboration and sharing. We favor an educational approach where the child is free to make choices at his rhythm, based on his personality. The educators support the child with an open and democratic approach, based on our values and with collaboration of the parents. The child always remains our priority, and together we support his global development, in mutual respect. Our educational program, which is based on the Ministère’s “Accueillir la Petite Enfance”, focuses on play. We plan a balance between outdoor and indoor activities, quiet and active play, individual and group activities, in small and large groups, always providing a safe and secure environment for the children’s well-being. We have created a healthy menu, in accordance with the Canadian food guide. This menu was made in collaboration with a nutritionist, to make sure we offer food which is nutritional, fresh and of quality. We take religions and medical food restrictions into consideration when we prepare meals for the daycare, by offering halal and vegetarian meals to the children. We offer: -1 meal and 2 snacks per day. All is cooked on site -Varied educational activities adapted to the needs and interests of the children -We also offer specialized music, dance or yoga classes -A special cake is baked to celebrate children’s birthdays among friends. Parents are invited to participate -The 3-5 year old groups take part in storytime at the library and can borrow books. They also take part in animated story time at surrounding parks with other childcare centers -We take 3 fieldtrip per year (Apple picking, Sugar shack and Summer amusement park) and special Graduate's fieldtrip
