After shopping around for weeks for a daycare, we finally thought we had found the right one. It had a brand new area for infants, and they were going to do everything they could to accommodate our 6month old. Then, after a 2 1/2 hour session with our boy ( to get him used to daycare slowly ), the director of the facility turned my baby away and said they couldn’t take him because of his cleft lip and palette. Confused- I asked for more details- and after a heated conversation where she blamed his slower eating (he still takes a bottle and only eats about 4-6 tbsp of solid food at a time) it came out that they just didn’t realize he wouldn’t be sitting/crawling or walking like thier 10 and 12 month olds. Yeah...... he’s 6 months! And how dare you blame it on his cleft and not on your incompetence! After so much communication (we told them all about his cleft in our first visit) and preparation they left us in a bind to find a place in time. Like leaving our little cutie at daycare isn’t hard enough!
