Our one-year-old got lice shortly after starting at this daycare. He went around scratching his head for nearly two months before his doctor identified the problem. I had mentioned it several times to the daycare staff ... not having any experience with lice, I thought it was eczema or earache pain, and no one took the time to look into it. Only after we identified and dealt with the problem - and let them know about it - did they start looking more closely at him. Today, for instance, we got a call in the middle of the day to pick him up because one of the daycare workers "thought she saw something in his hair." This daycare says that children need to be "nit-free" to attend, which is great in theory, but what ends up happening is that parents just don't bother to tell them that their kids have lice because it is too much of a hassle to ensure that they are nit-free before returning. Other drawbacks: the facilities are very old, the fees are high, and the infants do not have a separate sleeping area.
