My son started at West End at 18 months old and he's still there at age 7. He'd been through a very difficult time at a previous daycare where the staff was constantly turning over, and so he very stressed about returning to a daycare situation. The caregivers at West End welcomed us like family, and he was ever so gently encouraged to find his own way, explore his interests, and he formed lasting bonds not only with staff that have been there for decades but with many of the kids who remain his best buddies. I loved that the staff actively work to establish bonds between families at the daycare, and as I got to know my son's friends, I've ended up making great friends with their parents. The curriculum is child directed and aims NOT to reproduce what's happening in school (so they don't get bored when they get to school), with lots of outdoor play and arguably the best daycare yard in the West End. But it's the staff that makes West End such a terrific place!
