Dracana Grammar Prep-School (GPS) is located in the NW, walking distance to the University of Calgary and easily accessed by train and bus # 65. It is Calgary’s unique child care provider that combines a 6:00 am-6:00 pm childcare service (like a day care), with the Early Childhood Development curriculum (like a kindergarten).
The program is delivered by experienced, licensed and committed teachers with a focus in preparing the kids for Grade 1. This service is provided by retired educators, certified at Supervisor Level who, through intentional and curriculum based teaching, best pedagogical activities, professionally designed spaces, use of ergonomic furniture, digital lessons, structured daily routines and a caring environment, will give your child a great start for Grade 1!
All our teachers are certified in CPR & First Aid and have Police Clearance check. Members of our team have 60 years of combined teaching experience in different countries and continents. We provide a very clean, friendly, happy and safe learning environment for your children in a pet free location. Dracana GPS will not be a “typical” day care where you would drop your child off and s/he just runs around and watches movies all day without any structure or intention. Far from it!
This Grammar Prep-School (GPS) is set up in the bright and spacious walkout basement of our home that provides ample space for kids to enjoy playing games and developing their gross motor skills. There will be a playful and structured environment set-up. Daily activities will include indoor and outdoor play (weather permitting), circle time, picnics, computer use (Word Perfect and Animation programs taught), show and tell time, music, math, public speaking, arts and crafts.
At Dracana GPS your child will be emotionally, physically and mentally active. Children will be happy, share and make friends. They will be engaged in physical activities as we have a spacious backyard where children will develop their imagination and desire for outdoor activities. Our completely fenced backyard is equipped with a sand box, water table, children’s kitchen, fairy garden, green house, and a “living room” filled with toys to help kids develop their make-believe imagination and social skills. Through all this, your child will learn how to be responsible, share, create and present ideas and projects - all of these life and intellectual skills absolutely necessary for Grade 1. For the child’s best interest, an open communication on her/his progress is maintained with you at all times.
We offer home-made healthy & nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch and two snacks). We, also, offer before and after school care and can accompany your child to and from school in the Capitol Hill and Brentwood area. Moreover, we are trained ESL teachers and would be happy to help your child improve his English Language proficiency.
