Daycare description / philosophy

Hello and welcome to Eko Pley Preschool Academy. Mrs Oyelese is an experience teacher with a background in Montessori and play based programs. Eko Pley Preschool offers morning classes to children aged 2.5-6 yrs of age. The centre is located in the warm sunny basement of her home with bathroom facilities seperate for preschoolers only. The curriculum is a mix of play and academics to foster a love of learning for the young child. The day starts with rug time, calendar, books, songs and discussions. Each week has a theme and phonetic sound assigned. We break for snack and then engage in free choice of activites from art/puzzles/fine motor manipulatives/water works/science/language arts or mathematics. Play components include (but are not limited to) kitchen, workshop, blocks, trains, dressup and dolls. The huge south backyard is visited at the end of each class for fresh air, sunshine and exercise. The children experience nature, gardening, and a connectiveness to their environment. The small ratio of 1-6 enables the child to have one-on-one time with the teacher with their prefered interests, and allows them to learn social skills and make friends easily in a warm nurturing environment. They are able to build their self esteem by expressing themselves creatively and cognitively in a safe environment.
