Daycare description / philosophy

Hello, My name is Amanda and I have a private day home for ages 1-5. My Credentials: Education Assistant certificate from Mount Royal University NB Early Learning Curriculum Framework Certificate 1st year of Youth Care Worker at NBCC Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training CPR/First Aide Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector Level 1 Early Childhood Educator My Experience: I ran a preschool program in NB for 4 years at SJECC with 3-5 year olds. During the summer, I ran the “after-school” program with ages 5-12. I have since taken the EA course at Mount Royal and was an EA with the CBE from 2018-January 2021. Working with ages 4-14 in mainstream classrooms and in specialized settings. I have experience working with children who have many disabilities, such as: Autism, ADHD, ODD, and Down Syndrome. I know and teach basic “baby” sign language, if appropriate. Why am I working with children? This is my passion. I love watching children learn through their experiences and helping them learn about social responsibility, empathy and independence as much as I love helping them learn academics to prepare them for when they enter kindergarten. What do we do? I focus on learning through play and exploration as well as daily circle time. Their social emotional needs are met with respect and understanding.
