Daycare description / philosophy

My name is Heather and I live in McKenzie Lake near the green space within walking distance to the schools, parks & the lake. I have a level three child care supervisor certification, outstanding references & a true passion for teaching & raising bright minded children.
I previously was the Supervisor for the Before & After school program at Leap N Learn Preschool working with a staff of five with a class of 30 children. I have worked teaching preschool in both a classroom & advanced one on one setting. I now put my experience and love of children to use in a Dayhome setting, keep things a little less chaotic with smaller numbers.
We are a play based, animal friendly home with a focus on outdoor adventure & love of nature. We run monthly themes & provide the opportunity for preschool learning while focusing on age appropriate development. We have lake access & use the facilities throughout the year. We also take fieldtrips to the library and other Calgary attractions such as the zoo, Heritage Park & fish creek park.
My actual schooling is in Biomedical Science with a minor in Nutrition & Nutraceutical Sciences so if there are any dietary restrictions I can cater to those as well as providing a nutritious breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks.
As mentioned we are an animal friendly home and use the animals to encourage empathy, consideration and responsibility. We currently have a large dog (Baby Behr), two salamanders (Roughnut & Toughnut) and a fish (Harvey) in our home. All animals are very child friendly and have up to date vaccinations and health checks.
Tax receipts are provided and all my certification is fully up to date including health care provider first aid & CPR, vulnerable sector search police clearance, extended police clearance for children with special needs, clean drivers abstract & a level three child care supervisor certification.
