Daycare description / philosophy

Wonderland Dayhome located in Riverbend SE community, (close to Glenmore Trail, Deerfoot Trail, easy access from 18 Street SE). My 10 years of experience in teaching children in play-based and Montessori daycares helped me to create a welcoming, safe, nurturing and loving home for children. The mornings include academic materials and teacher-directed lessons. This is followed by a teaching session based on the Montessori method which emphasizes the development of motor skills using manipulative or “hands on” activities and lessons, thus giving children the freedom of choice and movement. The “hands on” cover five key learning areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Culture. Afternoons are spend in a play-based environment where children can choose from a wide range of open-ended activities. This gives them a lot of time interacting and playing with their friends. Through play and pretend or dramatic play they learn social skills, problem-solving and how to reflect on themselves, others, and the environment. I am accepting registrations for full-time, part-time and drop-in care for children older than 2 year. I am certified as a Child Development Assistant having certificates also for Red Cross Childcare First Aid/CPR and Food Safety. I am offering healthy breakfasts, homemade warm lunches and afternoon snacks with plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits at each meal. My home is pet and smoke free spacious, clean learning/playing room plus an additional room for nap. I have a large fenced yard for the children to play in and close-by playgrounds which we can explore. I am fluent in: English, Romanian and Hungarian.
