Daycare description / philosophy

Our Centre was established in 1979. We are an important and active member of our community. We are involved with various community agencies and organizations. We work in partnership with the schools we serve: Lee Ridge School; St. Elizabeth Catholic School; Grace Martin School Frere Antoine School; Greenview School; John Paul I Catholic School. We are in partnership with ABC Head Start, GRiT, FSCD and Growing Changes. All organizations help parents and children with challenging behaviours, language difficulties and other support structures for parents and educators. We are committed to ensuring that each child is provided with a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment that supports high quality learning, respects diversity, and fosters a sense of belonging and a positive sense of self. Children are expected to learn, practice, and demonstrate positive personal and interpersonal character traits that contribute to the development of a productive learning and play environment. We feel that children’s play is central to our curriculum framework as an active, exploratory, creative, expressive process, deeply embedded in children’s everyday experiences and through which children participate in, learn about, and actively make sense of the world. Children are unique and have their own identity. We provide inclusive and culturally sensitive environments in which social responsibility for self and others is enacted. Our Centre has large rooms, separated by the children's ages and developmental needs. Each room has multiple staff, who have their childcare certificate and first aid. Each room has a range of activities based on the children's interests. We have an indoor gymnasium that is used by all ages.
