Daycare description / philosophy

Below is plenty to read, but I believe if you have the time to read my ad. Then you understand the safety and care I put into my daycare.

JO-ANN'S PENQUIN HANDS HOME DAYCARE

My name is Jo-Ann; I'm a private home daycare in the beautiful town of Embrun.
My goal is to provide a safe and happy place for children where they can learn and grow at their own pace. I believe children learn through roll play, imagination and lots of love and affection. My goal is to teach each child to communicate, negotiate, problem solve and "try" to get along with their little friends in care. If each child can learn these skills then the rest will happen. Each day I offer the children opportunity to play with puzzles, games, art materials, play dough, books, music, language, science activates and lots of outdoor activities. If this is the way you would like for your child to play and learn then this is the place for you and your child.

Example;

ROUTINE; I'm very organized with routine and structure on a daily base, depending on the days things may change.
Our Daily Routine (we are flexible each day)
7 am to 9 am Free Play
- Till last child arrives to our group. I encourage the children to play with activities till the last child arrives to care.
9 am to 9:30 am Craft Time
- play dough, leaning ABC/Colours/Numbers, water, sand and other activities. We try to stay with a weekly theme. "Very important to remember not to bring your child in with clothing that are new and you do not want to get stained, cut or messy. Our day is based on learning and having fun."
9:30 am to 9:45 am Snack Time
9:45 am to 10 am Hands wash/ toilet time/ diaper time
10 am to 10:15 am Circle time
-Story time, finger play, group talk, songs and action play (theme week)
10:30 am to 11:45 am Outdoor Play

11:45 am to 12:00 pm Preparation Time after outing
-Inside for toilet and wash-up, then free choice of activates, while provider prepares lunch.
12 pm to 12:45 Lunch time
12:45 pm to 1 pm Story-time or wind-down activity (normally a few books)
1 pm to 3 pm Nap or quiet time depending on the age group
3 pm to 3:15 pm Wake up time, Diaper change, Toilet time
3:30 pm to 3:50 pm Snack
4 pm to home time Free Play.
Daily schedule may change do to the weather outside, very important to me is to have the children outside as much as possible. I believe outdoors is a place for children to explore, exercise and plenty of fresh air as possible.

Menu;

Monday; grilled cheese/yogurt/peas with potatoes and milk
Tuesday; macaroni/cheese and ground beef/green beans milk
Wednesday: tuna casserole/tomato or pickle slices milk
(this is a basic idea of lunch served daily, board on the wall displays daily lunch and snacks) I also believe in plenty of fruits/veggies.
Snack; twice a day would include
Monday; saltines/grapes with water
Tuesday; bagel with cream cheese/orange slices with water
Wednesday; honey graham crackers/honey dew melon with water

All foods prared are home-made from bakery to meals.

Ottawa Ministry is teach us in classes about the education called Elect (Early Learning for Every Child today) Example; - Social Emotional; this is how I fell, the activity will allow children to express both positive and negative emotions. By sharing emotions, children will see the world from another point of view and may begin to identify with others.
What's needed; Drawing tools such as crayons, paint, and white drawing paper.
- Fine Motor Skills; this activity exercises the muscles in children's hands and arms to develop skills and coordination with using scissors. Allow children to cut the paper with scissors. If children need assistance, I will help and guide them to understanding scissors. Adjusting their grip on the scissors and use your hand over their hand to teach them to open and close the scissors to cut paper. Younger children can rip and crumple the paper. This too is a wonderful way to help develop the muscles in their hands and arms.
What's needed; children's scissors, magazines, flyers anything with paper
- Large Motor Skills; This activity helps develop large muscles and helps children to develop coordination in their arms and legs.
What's needed; Laundry basket or other type of basket, different coloured clean socks (they do not have to match). Roll the socks up into a ball, have the children take turns tossing the socks into the basket. Talk to the children throughout this activity about taking turns.
- Cognitive; This activity helps children think about how things are the same or different. It helps children to get ready for counting and learning about colours.

Coarses I've taken, plus will continue to take for my knowledge and the childrens.
