Daycare description / philosophy

Tiny Hoppers opened its doors in 2005. We have expanded to become of of the largest daycares in the Ottawa Region with 7 locations (Riverside South, Kanata Bridlewood, Orleans, Rockland, Barrhaven, Findlay Creek and Kanata North). We take pride in being selected as one of Ottawa's Best!

Our 3,000 square foot facility is bright, spacious and state of the art with 2 separate play yards attached directly to our centre. We offer full and part-time daycare, JK/SK Before and After care, School Age care and, Parent/Child Playclasses. Our centre will host special events such as Birthday Parties and every parent's favourite, Parent's Night Out.

The Tiny Hoppers curriculum is based on the 4-Blocks Literacy Model. These fours blocks include Guided Reading, Self-Selected Reading, Writing and Working with Words. During a regualr Hopper Day, the children are lead through a routine including daily passwords, morning messages, sign in centres, circle time learning bins and, attendance cards. Literacy is taught through a variety of carefully chosen games, songs and, activities that provide children with an acitve and fun learning experience.

All of our educational centres are carefully planned to provide children with an exciting hands-on learning experience that touch on activities in all areas of learning including math, science, literacy and, the arts. Hopper teachers are Registered Early Childhood Educators and, must attend a yearly training course that is designed to teach them how to most effectively teach literacy to young children and how to best promote literacy in the classroom.

Our curriculum is theme based which helps us to focus our learning activities on themes and activities that the children find most interesting. Although the Tiny Hoppers curriculum is carefully laid out in detail, teachers are encouraged to enhance their program with additional activities based on the individual needs and interests of the children in their group. These new activities are then shared with all of the Tiny Hoppers staff, across the city, through a private teacher Blog. This Blog is a resource that our teachers use to come up with new and exciting ideas for their classrooms. At Hoppers, we work as a team to make sure that we provide the most exciting, energetic, and fun learning environment for your child.
